There is something a bit magical about watching the pretty colors of the juice come out after the chunks of fruit and veggies go in. And..... so many combinations to make it taste delish! This recipe is for Grapefruit (one whole) 2 carrots (organic so you don't have to cut the end off) about a one and a half piece of fresh ginger It sweet, tart and spicy. So so good for you. Have you ever noticed after drinking a glass of homemade juice you feel a bit healthier. Do you have any favorite juice recipes? Please share in the comment section. Ok everybody.... This is a different way of feeling good. Soul food, I promise you. I was at my nursing job yesterday, the mom where I work is gifted with cooking amazing country food from scratch. I watched her boil these beautiful sweet potato fresh from a local farm she is long time friends with. The smell was to delicious just when they where done boiling, never mind when they where baking. When you eat them you can see whole small pieces of the potato, it melts in your mouth and there is no way to only have one. This is part of the beauty of this life, the small things that we get to experience. Special tastes, smells and flavors on our tongues. Here is the recipe for these tasty Good For You Muffins: Guided Imagery Meditation is my favorite type of meditation. I am offering a 4 week class to provide an experiencial trip into your secret stash of stress. When we find the secret stash we can unravel it from it's comfy home it has created and send it on its way. Leaving you with a more comfortable experience in your body. Guided Imagery is fun. Do you know why? Or are you asking... What the heck is it? I will tell you. Guided imagery is a meditation that is lead by someone to provide an experience much like a private movie in your head to find clues, promote relaxation and increase your minds ability to use your imagination as a tool for a more comfortable life. When I lead a guided imagery, I will have you find a comfortable spot to sit or lie down. Then I will lead you through a story that you will follow in your mind. Depending on how able you are to open your mind and let it be a happy child excepting fantasy in your mind to develop, your experience can be in technicolor just like watching a movie. Our minds have the ability to build a stage and things will happen in the story that can be unexpected because you have let yourself have this experience. In my leading the story, that is only the road map for you to follow... everyone's experience will be different according to what your needs are and what you have stored in your body. My favorite story to tell about my very first guided imagery that I did for myself is: I started out walking down this path towards this home. In my mind this home represent me. Sometimes when I hear of peoples dreams and they are dreaming of a house that they are exploring. It could be a good dream or a nightmare having this experience, the house represents yourself and the many rooms we hold in reference to how we feel about ourselves. In my meditation, it was a very short experience. I walked up to the door, knocked on it. Now, in this type of meditation it is important to notice the details, because it holds clues to what is going on in our internal thinking. I noticed that the door was amazing, majestic, beautifully crafted wooden arch over these heavy double doors with a knocker on each. I knock and a man answered. Dressed in a black suit, well tailored and hair was slick, he was very serious. Immediately upon opening the door, he punched me in the face. Seriously, imagine my surprise. This was just going on in my head. How would you react? How would a healthy person react compared to someone who maybe was going through some stuff? What I did was run away. Then sat up thinking what the hell was that. I promptly called my teacher at the time. Her first questions was... Did you ask him why he punched you? I said... No! I was a big baby and ran away, not even questioning why or standing up to him. I had a no defense mechanism response at all. This was 20 years ago. That meditation has been part of my foundation of healing. Understanding why I had that response. Why that imagery was shown to me and in turn working with the details to bring myself into a more balance and self confident position in my thinking. At the time I was just beginning a marriage that was based on much verbal abuse and stripping down of myself and who I thought I was. It all makes so much sense and the opening of that door of understand has been profound. Now I am passing on this experience and tools to others so they can hopefully find as much healing as I have with this tool. During this class there will be plenty of preparing to understand how to fully use this opportunity to help you in whatever way you desire. After the meditation we will take a moment to write down your experience that you have. Then you will have the opportunity to talk about what you saw and hear others experience also. This sharing time is very important and informative to help you understand the what, why and how you can use what you experienced in your own self healing. During our time together we will focus on things that may be bothering you in your daily lives. For example: chronic pain, chronic thinking, making decisions about important things that may be happening right now, understanding of why we bring repetitive relationships into our lives that are not healthy, insomnia, if it is bothering you, this type of meditation could very possible change your situation. Once you understand how this works, you can very easily use in in your daily lives to solve problems yourself that may have been difficult in the past. It is a way of finding secrets that we hide from ourselves. Have any of you had any experiences with Guided Imagery Meditation? What was your experience and how did it help you? Have a beautiful warm winter day, Christian Laughton Ask 10 people what yoga is and you will get 10 different answers. It had a rich history before it came to the states. Some say it is old and complicated, a practice that should be taken seriously. Others say it is a form of physical exercise or maybe something to do with religion….. Again it can be complicated. I want to tell you my own description. I started this love affair with yoga about 20 years ago. Funny story, I have a bad habit of not taking library books back. OK, don’t judge, smile. Its part of who I am, I steal library books by accident and have often been found guilty of pulling over on the side of the road to dig up a plant or flower I just have to have. I love me, that’s just me. My first experience was using a library book and trying on each posture like a new pair of jeans. Some felt great, others felt like crap, and I always felt better after. It began as a purely physical practice for me. I was suffering with 2 herniated discs and during this time learned how, with yoga I could live a pain-free life. Over the years I started to understand there where so many components you could combine to help your whole self-feel better. I also learned what it meant to have yoga in your body. It was not just something I copied from a picture in a book, but a relationship with the way my body and mind felt on different days in the same posture or breathing method. Yoga is part of everyday of my life. That does not mean that I get on my mat every day. That to me means, I attune to how I feel every day. How I feel in my body and my mind. I now have the tools to adjust myself to create space and comfort because of my relationship with yoga. Also for the record, to me, yoga is yoga. All the fancy complicated words that name different branches of yoga, show us that it has been around for a very, very long time and different people from all walks of life have found different aspects of yoga to suit them most, then created a routine with that strength to mold their own twist.
My definition of yoga is: Yoga is a word that encompasses many tributaries to get to the same place. That place being...an expert physician for your own mind and body. Tributaries such as, physical placement of your body, meditation to create space between your breaths to listen to what is really going on in and around you. An understanding of how your breath effects your being and how to control the workings of it to your advantage. An example would be, I have pain in my left hip. This pain I have noticed for a few days. I have been busy and working on noticing but ignoring it. We all do that, right? Then I think to myself enough is enough. Time to fix it. I pause and listen. This is my process of using yoga to maintain my joy. With comfort in your body, joy is much easier to allow and maintain. You go to the doctor when you don't feel well. I go to my body when I don't feel well. The doctor will exam you, pulse, lymph nodes, blood pressure, temperature, ect. I do the same for my self by using my knowledge of what is my baseline good feeling in my body and how do I feel now. Then using the tools of yoga that are in my body I breath and notice... breath and notice... breath and notice. This is where it all comes together. Our body is our textbook and no one knows that book as well as the keeper of that book. Yoga helps you learn how to read the book and understand how to maintain and refresh our bodies. The placement of your body (asana) lets you get in touch with the living memories in your tissue that needs to be adjusted or let go of. Our breath (pranayama) brings space into our body to allow the sun to shine. In2It Health is offering yoga classes via my virtual class room. Big Smile. Follow this link for Calendar of classes That is my question to you. Do dreams mean anything? So many perspectives. There are those like myself that swear by the stories that my dreams show me. At times, I trust more in my dreams than my waking life to tell me the truth of situations and weaknesses. Maybe it is harder to lie to yourself when your mind is able to meander without being monitored by our muddled waking mind. As I think about this it gives me ideas that I have not thought of until now. My dreams are always spitting up information that in my waking life I could really give 2 shits about. For example.... the one about a friend that spent ridiculous amount of money to try and win a girl, the one about another friend that stays up too late to play video games and his wife gets mad about this, the other one about an ex husbands wife having a miscarriage, the one about my moms roof leaking (I do care about that one.) The list is long. And all of these dreams where someones reality that I only found out where real after I called them when I woke. But, what about the dreams that are about myself, the dreams that when I wake up, I know they are telling me something. I always rush to write them down so that they are not lost. I will even find some dreaded soul to listen to me tell my dream out loud so that I can find the nuances in the words I say to help me find the clues in the story of the dream. I know I sound like a crazy person. I don't care though, because it always makes a difference in my life, it always helps me heal the next day or let me be prepared for what is to come next.
Going back to thoughts that I have never thought about. I have, as some of you, I am sure have, thought about how the mind can work differently in our sleep to offer up remedies for our waking life. Now, though, I am also thinking about our minds ability to monitor thoughts during our day that make us uncomfortable. Using the ability to twist things into a better, more comfortable perspective to whatever suits us at the time. Whether it be making a happy situation bad or the other way around. You know how some of us love to be miserable in-spite of the goodness around us. This would also work in that situation that we know we should not be going in a particular direction, but we want to anyways, so we create a story that suits the addiction, then we can stay in our groove and get the prize. Using this vein of thought, what if the web we weave while we are awake to carry out actions that our authentic self knows is detrimental to our spirits true walk are so.... mmm..I don't know.... tangled maybe. That... in our sleep as we untangle them. Dreams are not clear because it is trying to unfold itself from the deeply enmeshed mess of lies that we tell ourselves when we are awake. Whew, that was a mouthful. It makes sense to me, what about you? Are dreams in code because in our waking lives our lies to ourselves are in a sort of code too. None of it makes easy sense, but our gut can usually figure it out if we listen. I think that I will be talking more about dreams this week, it is such a fun and healing topic. I look forward to your comments. See you soon. Love, Christina Hello Everyone, I am very glad to be back on track with my work. I just returned home from MA. It has been a long but wonderfully exhausting month. Its sort of crazy when you set a goal for yourself and find yourself doing something completely different. I set off to MA to begin to establish work and an office. What I ended up doing was being a friend and hospice nurse for one of my best friends during her husbands death. During my many years of nursing I have found there to be two kinds of healthcare workers at the time of death. Those that want to be at the bedside and those that run as far as they can away from it. I am one that gravitates to the dying persons bedside. I feel such honor to be with someone when they leave the planet. Its strange but true. I know some of you understand that feeling. The process of those almost two weeks completely prevented me from doing any other work. I could only focus on one thing... serving him and his family, to the point that my laptop was completely destroyed, preventing me from even trying to make my brain work in that direction. I guess I was exacting where I was suppose to be, doing exactly what I was suppose to be doing. I did get one thing done related to work. I left my friends home to go to an others to be surrounded by a quite mind, to do a podcast. It was so well received that I have been asked to come back once a month to do the show The Good Podcast. I am very excited about that. I love getting my word out and Ross (the person who does the show) is a blast to hang out with.
Today, I start serving myself. My work and my family. I will be having many open door clinics each week. Times will be posted, usually 12-4pm. http://www.in2ithealth.com/enter-the-classroom.html here is the link to the virtual office where the clinic is.
